Meet Teodora Apan

After qualifying as an English and French teacher I started my career in 2007 teaching English as a Foreign Language at college in Romania before moving on to adult education via the Chamber of Commerce for a few years. After relocating to London I went into recruitment as I wanted to further develop my business management, relationship building skills and increase my confidence.

I started as a recruitment resourcer for a small family-owned agency for 7 years, moved on to public sector recruitment for 5 years, then managed a team of 5 consultants for one of the biggest recruitment agencies in the world.

I've decided to become a tutor as I've always been driven by the need to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world, even if I have to do it one person at a time.

I really enjoy learning new things and challenging myself every day which is why I love my role as a tutor and assessor at Swarm. Plus I get to meet amazing people that I can support and with whom I can share some of my experiences. I mainly tutor and assess for the Recruitment standards for Level 2 and 3, HR support L3, Team Leaders supervisors L3.

Due to my recruitment and HR knowledge, I'm also a Careers Ambassador for Swarm and I'm happy to support any of our learners with skills building, CV building, and career advice.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring London, especially the food and coffee offerings; I'm doing strength training and I have been practicing mindfulness (meditating and deep breathing techniques) for a few years now.

What's next for me career-wise? in the next 5 years, I'd like to become a Charted Teacher and become a certified Coach.
