Turn Over a New Leaf

Turn over a new leaf

After all those years going to school, you probably have an inbuilt sense that September is a time for a fresh new start. (You may even feel compelled to buy new stationery!)

Embrace the new autumn season, and use it as a chance to take stock and tweak your routines.

Here are a few ideas:

1. READING
As the nights start to draw in, cosy up with a good book. Reading drags us away from our screens and is a way to escape our daily lives or to seek inspiration. Perhaps your tutor can recommend books to support your apprenticeship course or personal development.

2.  WALKING
Seeing daylight is important to improve our mood. It also helps set our circadian rhythms to foster good sleep. Walking in the fresh air and nature in particular supports our mental health. Rather than hibernate this autumn, rethink your routine once the clocks go back so that you can still enjoy the benefits.

3. LOOKING
It’s a beautiful time of year with vibrant colours everywhere! Look around you. If you’re studying a marketing apprenticeship, could you use some of this imagery in your content creation?

4. LEARNING
Local colleges and clubs often release a new timetable at this time of year so it’s worth checking them out if you fancy starting a new hobby or sport. Christmas wreaths anyone?

5. PLANNING
If you like to use a physical calendar or diary, it’s time to buy! There’s nothing more satisfying than filling in next year’s calendar with new events and activities to look forward to. Think ahead and plan the time you’d like to take off work for a holiday. That will motivate you through the darker months ahead!

6. GOAL SETTING

The end of 2024 is scarily close now. Time to reflect. Have you nearly achieved everything you set out to achieve this year? Sometimes short-term goals work best so what new target could you set for yourself to meet by 31st December?.
